Dear Friend of Disability Rights:

I need your help! I have volunteered to join in the ADAPT FUN*RUN for Disability Rights which supports Austin Mayors Committee and others who work to make community living a reality for everyone.  Having lymphedema has brought further home how limiting the rights seem to be and/or how much it can be a struggle it can be everyday for so many folks that are disabled in a number of ways.  

I had the pleasure of attending the lobby day for the 25th Anniversary of the American With Disabilities Act and met many other trailblazers who are striving to make a difference for all that are disabled.  Ive also been involved with the Austin Interfaith Inclusion Network here in Austin and met many other there that are equally involved in bringing together faith and disabilities under the same roof, and currently have an interesting dialog going on facebook with the Community Faith Outreach public group.

I have been frustrated by having a lift and no towing package on my SUV to get the lift installed.  Having limited funds just doesn't make those dollars stretch to get the missing pieces.  Your contribution may not help me personally to achieve my goal, it will go to help the disability community at large to help them function more fully in their lives, giving them a life and identity as a person, giving them rights to live independently and not in a nursing home environment,  etc.  Some folks are disabled from birth; others are affected by ailments causing limitations and/or car injuries, brain injuries, tragic accidents.  There is not one person that deserves any less of rights that are afforded every other human being on this earth.

Help me to help everyone to have their rights preserved and/or restored, or even simply the dignity of life given.

I am a virtual runner. I won't be physically participating but will be running in spirit. The actual FUN*RUN will be at Yellowjacket Stadium, located at on 04/11/2015
